About this course

Power BI is Microsoft’s business intelligence tool used by organizations globally to turn raw data into visual dashboards and reports. This course introduces participants to the core features of Power BI Desktop — from connecting a data source all the way through to building a working dashboard.

The course emphasizes practical, hands-on learning. Participants work with Excel spreadsheets throughout, making the content immediately relevant for anyone already working with business data. By the end of Day 2, participants will have built their own data model and produced a dashboard from scratch.

This is a non-certification course. It does not lead directly to the Microsoft PL-300 exam. It is designed for corporate professionals who need to use Power BI at work.

This course is suitable for:

  • Corporate executives and managers who need to read or build Power BI dashboards
  • Operations, finance, HR, and sales professionals transitioning from Excel-based reporting
  • Individuals in the corporate industry who work with business data regularly and want to visualize it more effectively
  • Anyone starting from zero with Power BI and needing a practical, tool-focused foundation

No prior Power BI experience is required. Basic familiarity with Excel is helpful.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Connect Power BI Desktop to data sources including Excel files and databases
  • Import and query data using the direct query and import methods
  • Build a working relational data model with configured relationships
  • Create calculated columns and measures using basic DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
  • Design dashboards using bar charts, column charts, KPI cards, tables, slicers, and map visualizations
  • Apply conditional formatting and drill-up/drill-down navigation
  • Transform a raw data source into a complete, presentation-ready Power BI dashboard
